【摘要】:Elementalconstituentsinpotablewater,receivingwater,andwastewaterneedtobeidentifiedforsupportofeffectivepollutioncontrolprograms.TestMethodsA,B,andCprovidethetechniquesnecessarytomakesuchmeasurements.Althoughinhaledmanganesedustshavebeenreportedtobetoxictohumans,manganesenormallyisingestedasatracenutrientinbothfoodandwater.Becauseitisconsideredtoberelativelynontoxictoman,aswellasaquaticlife,alimitof50x03BC;g/LhasbeenestablishedintheEPANationalSecondaryDrinkingWaterRegulations.Thislimitisbasedprimarilyonitsabilitytostainlaundryandproduceobjectionabletastesinbeverages.Manganesedoesnotoccurnaturallyasametalbutisfoundinvarioussaltsandminerals,frequentlyinassociationwithironcompounds.ManganeseisnotminedintheUnitedStatesexceptwhenmanganeseiscontainedinironoresthataredeliberatelyusedtoformferro-manganesealloys.Manganesesaltsareusedasfertilizeradditivesandarecommonlyfoundinsurfaceandgroundwaters.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertheatomicabsorptiondeterminationofdissolvedandtotalrecoverablemanganeseinwaterandcertainwastewaters.Threetestmethodsaregivenasfollows:TestMethodConcentrationRangeSectionsA-AtomicAbsorption,Direct0.1to5mg/L7to15B-AtomicAbsorption,Chelation-Extraction10to500g/L16to24C-AtomicAbsorption,GraphiteFurnace5to50g/L25to33
